FAMOUS PETS

ON: IMAGINATION

OSCAR WILDE Observes:
It has been said that imagination is of greater value than knowledge.  I wonder how anyone came to such a conclusion.

MARK TWAIN Remarks:
I can't imagine... and I don't know.

ON: ART/WRITING

OSCAR WILDE Observes:
Revolutions in are are not objections against conventions, but rather against truths that restrict conventions.

MARK TWAIN Remarks:
Creative and effective writing need not be limited by sterile facts; neither do explanations to the wife.

ON: TOLERANCE

OSCAR WILDE Observes:
Tolerance is the virtue of the helpless---a necessary virtue.

MARK TWAIN Remarks:
Tolerance may, or may not, be the same as indifference, but I really do not care.
